Father's Day - Part 2

We kept very busy while Justin was away last week, but nonetheless, were thrilled when he returned home on Friday. As planned, we celebrated Father's Day with him on Saturday. We drove down to Larkspur and boarded the ferry heading to San Francisco. This was a first for three of us and it was definitely a perfect way to celebrate with Justin. The weather was ideal, the kids were ecstatic to explore the boat and sites of the Bay with Justin, and to top it off, we all enjoyed treats at the Ferry Building. J and the kids had tasty gelato at Ciao Bella and I thoroughly enjoyed a latte from Blue Bottle Coffee. On the way home we stopped in San Rafael to get Sol Food to-go for dinner. Sol Food is fantastic Puerto Rican food -- I highly recommend it.

A terrific Father's Day for an amazing Dad.

Father's Day - Part 1

The kids and I woke up on Father's Day and said, "Bon Voyage!" to Justin. He was selected to give a presentation at the International Microwave Symposium held in Montreal. We were aware that he would be flying to Canada on Father's Day,  and made a date to celebrate together on the 23rd, the day after he arrived back home.

Despite J's absence, we had a  lovely day celebrating with my Dad. We piled into the van and headed to Armstrong Woods SP in Guerneville. It was my Mom and Dad's first visit to the park. The kids enjoyed walking among the giant redwoods, reading the map, and picnicking together. An added bonus was running into our friends, the Albrecht's on the trail! After returning home, we took a dip in my parent's pool and had dinner together.

Trip to NYC

On the 7th, I took the red-eye to New York to visit my Grandma, Aunt Nancy, and Aunt Mickey. My Mom was visiting as well, and we had a lovely time with Grandma. Although her dementia has definitely gotten worse, we were able to chat a bit, and more importantly spend time together everyday of my trip. On the 9th, I took my Mom to see the High Line, an amazing park in Manhattan. That evening, we took Nancy and her partner, Victoria out to dinner in the Village. On the 10th we celebrated Nance's 60th. After a walk along Riverside Park and a stop at Zabar's, Nance and I picked up Mom and we headed to the New York Botanical Garden. There is currently a Monet exhibit that was incredible. That evening we attended Nancy's birthday party at the Red Rooster Harlem. If you are a Food Network fan, this is one of Marcus Samuelsson's restaurants. I flew home the evening of the 11th and was thrilled to wake up the following morning to lots of hugs and kisses from J, A, and E.
