Vaux's Swifts
Friday evening we visited the Rio Lindo Academy in Healdsburg to see thousands of Vaux's Swifts (approximately 7,500) enter a chimney where they roost from mid-August through September. We had a picnic dinner with my Mom, Dad, and our friends, Mary, Greg, Lucas, and Cora, and then watched a spectacular show We also got to see two predators in action, a hawk and a falcon! As we were packing up to go home, a Great Horned Owl flew right over our heads. It was a very exciting adventure!

Fall Encampment
Alanna and I had a terrific time camping with her Brownie troop at Fall Encampment last weekend. We headed up to Pepperwood Preserve on Friday afternoon and camped for two nights. The girls had a wonderful time participating in the various planned activities, including getting to perform the flag ceremony, Sunday morning.
